ATOMM is the acronym of HIV/ AIDS

Model.
It is a conceptual model for comprehensive client-centred
HIV/AIDS programme including prevention, counselling and
testing, and care and support services. It emphasizes
the importance of creating substantial linkages among
HIV/AIDS and RH related activities for timely and appropriate
service provision according to people’s needs and
readiness. Local governments’ initiative and coordination
among stakeholders are key factors for the success.

Issues
There are many kinds of on-going HIV/AIDS and RH related
activities in each country. However, these activities
are fragmented. This fragmentation makes each activity
inefficient. To create a strong impact at the community
level, strong coordination with a common blueprint for
comprehensive HIV/AIDS program is needed. ATOMM could
be helpful to inspire programme planners, managers, and
evaluators with total image of a comprehensive and client-centred
HIV/AIDS programme and importance of coordination to boost
synergy effect among HIV/AIDS related activities.
