| Approduction Lessons Spread
in Latin America
In May 2006, as part of a UNFPA Latin America Regional Project,
a workshop was held in Mexico. JOICFP taught Approduction
skills and two youth representatives from Esteli Municipality,
Nicaragua also took part with other youth from Ecuador, Mexico,
and Peru.
During a visit to Nicaragua as a JICA expert, Kaori Miyachi,
Assistant Program Officer, JOICFP, together with the other
JICA experts, attended a community event in Esteli organized
by the representatives and others from the adolescent center.
Using techniques learned in the Approduction training, the
health center members used drama, music and a quiz format
to deliver reproductive health messages to around 120 people,
even composing their own songs to motivate the audience.
The performances were well received and show how Approduction
delivers what it means - appropriate production of health
messages in any situation.
