Bernard Aluvihare, former Assistant Secretary-General, IPPF, passed away on August 17 at the age of 84.

After retirement from IPPF in 1987, he supported successive secretaries general and directors general as a special advisor. Born in Sri Lanka, he played a very important role in linking Asia and IPPF. He also rendered many services to affiliate the China and Vietnam Family Planning Associations with IPPF.
