| Collecting for the Future
For many years, JOICFP has been asking the public to donate
used stamps and prepaid cards, such as for telephones and
trains, which are then sold to collectors.
From 8th to 11th December 2006, JOICFP attended the "2006
World Stamp, Coin and Telephone Card Festival in Tokyo."
This event is held twice a year, and is an important fundraising
event as collectors come from overseas as well as all over
the country.
The festival gave JOICFP an opportunity to meet with many
collectors and determine what are the latest trends in collecting.
JOICFP was the only NGO present and its stall was very popular.

JOICFP's stall is packed and people wait
to have a look at the cards and stamps on offer
The use of prepaid cards is declining in Japan as more people
are using mobile phones instead of public ones, and the use
of magnetic debit cards, which can be 'topped-up' with cash,
for transportation and small purchases is rising.
Therefore, JOICFP is looking for other collectibles that
are gaining in popularity. Items that are now attracting attention
include foreign coins, postage meter stamps, preferably with
the name of the company printed on them, airline documents,
such as boarding card stubs and menus, and overseas postage
stamps for domestic and foreign collectors.
Even though most collectors have little knowledge about or
interest in JOICFP's activities, their support has, for example,
sent many bicycles overseas that are used to help save mothers'
lives.
This event highlights that JOICFP's activities are supported
by many kinds of people and items.
