| JOICFP Begins New ASRH Project
with World Bank
JOICFP has just started a new partnership project with the
World Bank. Titled "Making Young People's Voices Heard
through Visual Media for Promoting ASRH - application of ICT
in building capacity of youth leaders for ASRH advocacy,"
the project is part of the bank's Population and Reproductive
Health Capacity Building Program.
JOICFP was selected as one of the grantees from many applicants,
recognizing its expertise in advocacy, ASRH, and ICT for appropriate
media tools skills and development.
The one-year project aims to strengthen the capacity of youth
leaders for effective development and utilization of multi-format
visual media content that can be utilized in their advocacy
actions on ASRH, thereby facilitating delivery of their voices
and explanation of real situations at the grassroots to policy
and decision makers.
The youth leaders will not only acquire skills to input their
opinions into clear messages and visual materials, but also
the materials will be developed into various media formats,
including print materials, and visual materials such as TV
spots, to enable a wide range of dissemination and usage both
nationally and regionally.
The project will encourage youth initiative and participation,
so that visual content developed will become powerful advocacy
media tools.
The main theme of the World Development Report 2007 is young
people, and this project will contribute directly to advocating
ASRH in the South Asia Region.
