Community Operated reproductive health services in rural communities
in the state of Chiapas with emphasis on adolescents

Project Objectives
To increase the knowledge and capacity of adolescents and youth in ASRH in the underserved rural communities in Chiapas.
Main Funding sources
  IPPF
Project Period
  January 2004- December 2006
Counterpart
  MEXFAM
Activities
This program focused on developing effective approaches to youth in rural and underserved communities based on the community-operated RH concept and the past experiences of MEXFAM in the “Gente Joven” (GJ) program. The project aimed to promote safe sexual practice among young people by ensuring their access to ASRH information and services. It was recognized that the GJ program, which had been promoted in urban areas, was also useful methodology for young people in medium- sized cities and rural areas.
