SDGs, gender equality and JOICFP
In September 2015, the United Nations adopted Sustainable Development Goals. Projects we run abroad directly concern Goal 3: Good Health and Well Being and Goal 5: Gender Equality, among others. Improving access to maternity health care and women’s empowerment are examples of our activities that concern these goals.
Japan is also struggling a lot in terms of gender equality. In January 2020, the World Economic Forum ranked Japan 121st among 153 countries listed in Gender Gap Index. We are working with civil society to promote gender equality in Japan.
In 2017, JOICFP was awarded “the SDGs Partner” at the Japan SDGs award, organized by the Japanese government.
