Staff at JOICPF were in shock to hear the news of the Taliban retaking Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan, and declaring full control over the country. We are all praying for the safety of the nation’s people. JOICFP continues to receive updates from local NGOs.

We are extremely concerned about future serious outcomes where the rights of women and girls are being threatened, life-saving sexual and reproductive health and rights services becoming limited, or girls losing their chance to have an education. We are keeping a close eye on developments while cooperating with global society in building dialogue to find a peaceful resolution. JOICFP is calling to our friends and supporters in Japan and abroad to help the people in Afghanistan restore their peace and livelihoods.
