JOICFP works to promote development in the areas of population,
reproductive health, family planning, maternal and child
health and nutrition education, environmental sanitation,
community development, and primary healthcare in developing
countries in Asia, Africa, Latin America, Oceania, and
the Middle East. Established in 1968 as a non-profit organization,
JOICFP works in conjunction with the United Nations Population
Fund (UNFPA) and the International Planned Parenthood
Federation (IPPF, an international NGO). In addition to
being accredited "special" status by UNECOSOC, JOICFP
won the UN Population Award for its significant
achievements and outstanding contribution to world population
issues in 2001.
