IPPF - Sinding on the Link Between HIV/AIDS and RH

During a visit to Japan from 19th to 27th November, Steven Sinding, Director General, IPPF, spent two days visiting parliamentarians, Japanese government counterparts, and the media to explain IPPF's current activities and future plans, especially those concerning HIV/AIDS.

In a meeting with members of the Japan Parliamentarians Federation for Population, Sinding emphasized the importance of linking HIV/AIDS to reproductive health (RH). He also stressed that RH had been included twice in the declaration from the UN 2005 World Summit, which governments had committed to upholding. This, he said, was a reflection of successful IPPF advocacy.

The topic of Japanese ODA was also mentioned, and Sinding thanked the parliamentarians for their committed and continuing support for population and RH program in the world.
