JOICFP would like to express its deepest condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Dr. Lee Jong Wook, Director General, WHO, who passed away on 22nd May after a brief illness.

Among the many challenges he faced, including SARS and bird flu, Dr. Lee will be especially remembered for his efforts to expand greatly HIV/AIDS treatment to the poor around the world.

UN Secretary General Kofi Annan said, "He was a strong voice for the right of every man, woman, and child to health prevention and care, and advocated on behalf of the very poorest people."
