Continued Support
for JOICFPfs Safe Motherhood Campaign

Since 1993, the Ebara Business Enterprise Association (EBEA) has been supporting JOICFP through advocacy and fundraisers. On 19th November 2007, the association held its 14th annual fundraiser for JOICFP, with a show by comedian Casey Takamine.

Around 550 people came to the event, where Yoshio Matsuura, Chairperson, EBEA, introduced JOICFP and its activities.

He highlighted JOICFPfs White Ribbon Campaign activities, and explained that around the world, one woman a minute dies of pregnancy related complications, but that this is preventable.

Most people in the audience and most Japanese in general are not aware of the difficulties of safe motherhood around the world. JOICFP hopes that events such as this will serve to raise awareness and help reduce maternal mortality.

In the foyer, JOICFP exhibited photographs and messages on safe motherhood, and sold Kilimanjaro coffee to raise funds for community-based developers supporting mother and child health.

The audience could choose to pay the entrance
fee with cash or with used prepaid cards,
such as telephone and subway cards,
that JOICFP will later sell to collectors.

To date, the association has donated a total of more than 13.3 million yen through fundraising events, and prior to the comedy show Hideyuki Takahashi, Director, Resource Development and Campaign, JOICFP, thanked EBEA for its generous and continued support.

On 5th December 2007, Yasushi Akashi, President, JOICFP, handed a letter of appreciation to Yoshio Matsuura in a ceremony at JOICFP.
