JOICFP's Mother's Day Event
Draws Large Crowds

On 13th May, JOICFP staged a special Mother's Day event in a plaza in the Landmark Tower, Yokohama.

The plaza was situated among many shops, and hundreds of passersby stopped in to learn about JOICFP's activities, especially how it supports safe motherhood and the White Ribbon Alliance.

Featuring a talk show with TV personalities and an opportunity to learn baby massage, JOICFP was able to raise awareness of the needs of mothers and infants in developing countries, something of which most of the Japanese public are unaware.

JOICFP sold, T-shirts and bags printed with messages on safe motherhood, children's books on international cooperation, and fair trade goods.

Private sector support

JOICFP received support at the event from the private sector, with Virina selling fashionable maternity clothes, ClubKing including a whole page about JOICFP in its trendy free magazine Dictionary, and Lotte donating chocolate to give to mothers.

The popular baby massage as well was carried out by a private organization.

This linking with the private sector helps sustainability as well as bringing the messages of safe motherhood to a wider audience.
